A flexible ticket
Lena has read the museum's current ticket page. Its flexible ticket allows arrival within opening hours on the booked day; changing the date requires a request. She and Paul have booked Saturday, and Lena has not checked for any later policy changes.
[tts-skip]Lena:[/tts-skip] As far as I know, our flexible museum tickets let us arrive at any time on the booked day, within opening hours. That's what the current ticket page says; I haven't checked for later changes since we booked.
[tts-skip]Paul:[/tts-skip] Do you mean we can switch from Saturday to Sunday without arranging anything? Sunday might be easier for me, and I thought paying for flexibility meant we wouldn't need to decide which day until the weekend.
[tts-skip]Lena:[/tts-skip] Not necessarily. Flexible can refer to the arrival time without covering the date. Our booking still names Saturday, and the page says a different date needs a change request rather than simply turning up.
[tts-skip]Paul:[/tts-skip] Then I was reading more into the word than the ticket actually promises. Does it at least mean we can stop worrying about an exact arrival slot on Saturday, or is there another restriction we haven't noticed?
[tts-skip]Lena:[/tts-skip] For example, we could arrive at three instead of when the doors open, provided that's within the museum's opening hours. That changes the time on Saturday; it doesn't turn the ticket into a booking for Sunday.
[tts-skip]Paul:[/tts-skip] That would still help. I can leave Saturday free, but I don't yet know when I'll finish my morning plans. I'd prefer to choose our arrival time later rather than promise you an early start now.
[tts-skip]Lena:[/tts-skip] That's within the flexibility described. We should check the opening hours before choosing, though. 'Any time' on the ticket page isn't a reason to assume we can arrive after the museum has closed.
[tts-skip]Paul:[/tts-skip] In other words, Saturday is fixed for now, while the arrival time can stay open within the stated hours. If I really need Sunday, I should ask for a change and wait for the answer.
[tts-skip]Lena:[/tts-skip] Exactly. To be clear, needing to request a change doesn't tell us whether it will be granted or what other conditions might apply. I haven't checked those details, so I can't promise a free switch.
[tts-skip]Paul:[/tts-skip] Then let's keep Saturday. I don't want us to plan around Sunday and only discover later that the request wasn't accepted. We can choose the time once I've sorted out the morning.
[tts-skip]Lena:[/tts-skip] Agreed. Before travelling, let's reread the current page for the hours and any updates. That way we're using the flexibility we actually have, rather than relying on a label we interpreted differently.
[tts-skip]Paul:[/tts-skip] I'll keep the booked day in the diary and message you when I know the morning plan. We've got room to adjust the time without treating the date as an open choice.
