Requests and practical help / Scene 02
A favour for the weekend
Amir will be away for the weekend. June can visit on Saturday but not Sunday. Two balcony pots need water; the indoor plants already have self-watering containers. They are arranging help, not assigning June general responsibility for the flat.
[tts-skip]Amir:[/tts-skip] Could you water my plants while I'm away this weekend? I was going to ask someone to drop in each day, but I don't want to assume you've got the whole weekend free.
[tts-skip]June:[/tts-skip] Saturday would be possible, but I won't be nearby on Sunday. Before I agree, how much is involved? I'm happy to help with a couple of pots; I couldn't look after everything for several days.
[tts-skip]Amir:[/tts-skip] Would you mind watering just the two balcony pots on Saturday? If possible, go before the afternoon sun reaches them. The indoor plants have self-watering containers, so I'm not asking you to do those as well.
[tts-skip]June:[/tts-skip] That sounds reasonable. I can come in the morning, although I can't promise an exact time. Do I need to check the indoor containers or refill them while I'm there?
[tts-skip]Amir:[/tts-skip] No. There is no need to refill those containers; I'll prepare them before I leave. I should have been more specific when I said 'my plants'—the task is just those two pots outside.
[tts-skip]June:[/tts-skip] Thanks, that was the part I wasn't sure about. A single Saturday visit for the balcony pots is fine. If something looks different from your instructions, I'd rather ask than decide that I'm responsible for fixing it.
[tts-skip]Amir:[/tts-skip] Absolutely. Feel free to use the spare watering can by the balcony door. I'll leave a short note beside it and make sure the route to the pots is clear before I go.
[tts-skip]June:[/tts-skip] Good. Let me know if your return date changes. That wouldn't automatically mean I could make another visit, but it would give us time to work out whether someone else needs to help.
[tts-skip]Amir:[/tts-skip] Understood. I'm due back on Sunday evening, and I'll message you if that changes. I won't take your agreement to Saturday as an offer to cover any extra days.
[tts-skip]June:[/tts-skip] Then the arrangement works for me. How shall I let you know I've been? A quick message would be easier than waiting until you get home and wondering whether you need an update.
[tts-skip]Amir:[/tts-skip] A quick message afterwards would be perfect. I'll sort out access with you before I leave, so you don't arrive on Saturday and discover you can't reach the balcony.
[tts-skip]June:[/tts-skip] All right. Once we've sorted out access, I'll make the one Saturday visit and message you afterwards. The limited task is clear now, and I can actually fit it into my day.
